Update Solutions, Inc. was officially started in 2003 by Kari and JJ Seely as a way for Kari to be able to quit her full time job and stay home with the kids. They had been talking for quite some time about how this might be accomplished, and finally they decided it was time to make the jump into starting their own business.

Finally, on January 3rd, 2003, Kari said goodbye to her full time job as a state public information officer and said hello to part-time webmaster and full-time mom. JJ continues to work for the Oregon Department of Justice as their Systems Administrator (computer geek) in order to pay the bills.

There are a couple of things that distinguish Update Solutions from most of the other firms. The first is that Kari comes from a design background. Many other web designers come from a "computer" background which can make for a great website that is horrid to look at. Customers are so often turned off by visually displeasing websites. Update Solutions has the design background to make sure that this doesn't happen to our clients. The second thing that distinguishes us from our competitors is that Kari does all the HTML and javascripting by hand. She believes that no computer software program can come close to the design and flexibility techniques that a human can work into a successful website.
