To ODA's Airport Safety & Operations Program
This collection of web-based information about Oregon's airports has been researched and assembled by Oregon Department of Aviation staff for several broad reasons: (1) to create greater local, regional and national awareness of Oregon's beautiful public airport system, as well as to (2) increase the safety and enjoyment of flights over Oregon.
Pilots are reminded that it is their responsibility to check all sources - including FAA Notices to Airmen and the Airmen's Information Manual - for current information. Pilots are further encouraged to make a fly over visual inspection of any airport before landing. Remember, the pilot in command is responsible for the safety of the flight. That includes obtaining the most accurate and up-to-date information available. This ODA web page alone does not fulfill that obligation.
Oregon has more than 400 private use and public use airports in its whole aviation system. When flying within Oregon's borders, you are encouraged to utilize any of our more than 100 public use aviation facilities. Many helpful resources are available directly through our offices at Department of Aviation. For example, we offer such hard-copy publications such a the 2003 Oregon Airports Directory with full-color aerial photographs and diagrams of all public use airports. We also publish an informative quarterly newsletter that includes an ongoing series of articles about Oregon's recreational aviation destinations, as well as development plans for Oregon's airports.
Oregon offers a unique variety of events, attractions and historical sites which you may choose to visit - and everything from rain forests to high desert, beaches to breathtaking mountain peaks, the urban skyline of Portland to remote and rugged wilderness. Fly into Oregon's wine country, which boasts an increasing number of award-winning wineries. Visit the world-renowned Shakespeare Festival in Ashland or visit Oregon's Outback in the southeast portion of the state. The opportunities are endless - and are sure to meet any interest.
We know you will enjoy flying Oregon!
